Fast, Fun, & Easy Tote Bag!

Charm Squares Tote Bag

Hello & Welcome!

I'm always scouring the internet for new products to add to my store and it seems I always end up on the project pages of all the website I visit.  I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about...the virtual rabbit hole of internet surfing.

I found this fun & easy tote tutorial by Virginia Lindsay of Ginger Cake on Youtube and put my own spin on it by making it with a pack of charm squares!

How fun would it be to make several of these totes for seasonal use!  I can totally see so many cute options... beachy, Christmas, Halloween, fall, spring, one for baby items... you name it!

While I was making mine I thought about putting some batting behind the exterior layer and quilting it but since this was my first time making this tote I thought it best follow the construction instructions.  Next time I'm going to give it a try for sure!

Just incase you're wondering, here are the products I used on my bag:

The exterior and handles were made using a pack of Jen Kingwell Low Volume Wovens charm squares (my Moda rep gave me as a sample, they don't come out until July) and Riley Blake dark grey linen on the top portion.  In the interior I used the Riley Blake linen at the top again & a couple of fat quarters from the Quarry Trail line which is a linen/cotton blend from Anna Graham for Robert Kaufman.

Oh!  And I totally forgot to mention, the bag is completely reversible!

I'm sure you have a few charm packs itching to be used and if you don't, I have a ton of them in my store.  If you love the one I used you can pre-order it here and the linen is here

I hope you are inspired to make one!  If you decide to make one or twenty be sure to post your photos in our Facebook group Crafty, Quilty, Sewing Buddies and on Instagram with the tag #ModernQuiltCoProjects.  Lets show some love to the designer by tagging her as well #GingerCakeSews.

I can't wait to see your creations!
